Joolz Sparkes is a north London based writer; her poetry appears in magazines, anthologies and books such as Magma 68, Too Loud, Too Young, Too Different, Shooter Lit Mag, Ink, Sweat & Tears, South Bank Poetry, Some Kind’A Soho and her short stories appear in Great Weather for MEDIA and Loose Muse anthologies. She was Poet in Residence at Leicester Square tube station, and Ronnie Scott’s bar, has been shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize, longlisted for Cinnamon Press and Live Canon pamphlet competitions, and has featured at Ledbury Poetry Festival. Her first poetry collection, London Undercurrents, a joint project with poet Hilaire, was published by Holland Park Press in 2019 and uncovers London’s unsung heroines north and south of the river. She is a member of the collective Malika’s Poetry Kitchen. Her pamphlet Face the Strain is published by ATG in October 2022.
